Officiating
Legal signing
You want to make your relationship legal without a ceremony or an exchange of rings or vows. You do not have any guests, except your two witnesses.
This is perfect for you if you are planning a destination wedding and want to take care of the legal paperwork in advance, if you need a marriage certificate for legal reasons, or if you just want to get it done without a lot of fanfare.
Simple ceremony
If you’re looking for a small intimate ceremony with the people who mean the most to you (approximately 30 guests).
This is the best choice if you are having a straightforward and simple backyard wedding or vow renewal, or if you are planning an elopement. I do that! Taking over your favourite pub for a round and a quick set of “I dos”? Pour us a glass!.
Full Celebration Ceremony
You’d like to customize your ceremony and maybe have a friend or family member participate. Every detail of your day will be carefully planned, so a face to face planning meeting will be included.
This is the way to go if your ceremony is more involved: bigger wedding party, the inclusion of additions (sand ceremony, hand fasting, etc) or cultural elements, multiple speakers, involvement of children, special language considerations, or if you simply want to personalize your ceremony text to suit you both.
The following can be incorporated into the above ceremonies: Religious, Spiritual, Commitment, Vow Renewal, Elopement, Themed & LGBTQ2S.
The officiating include an emergency back-up officiant.
The Ceremony
Here is a general outline of a ceremony, but as always, it will be customized for you:
- An optional walk down the aisle.
- Officiant thanks everyone for being there, maybe talks about your elopement location or the journey to your elopement location
- Officiant shares your story with your guests. This can include: how you met, what you’ve accomplished together, some of the milestones in your life together (buying a house, adopting a dog, moving to a new state, etc.), the story of your proposal, the story of how you decided to elope and how you chose your elopement location. It can be as detailed or as simple, funny, or sentimental as you’d like. And don’t forget to leave some pieces of your story to include in your vows!
- Optional reading, either by your officiant or another guest
- Partner 1 reads their vows
Partner 2 reads their vows - Ring exchange
- Optional prayer (religious. spiritual, unity) ; as chosen by you (or) as chosen by officiant and couple during planning.
- Officiant pronounces you married
- First kiss
- Signing of documents
- Group hugs and celebrations
